What Our Mission Is.
Winnacunnet Marine Corps Junior Reserve Officer Training Corps (MCJROTC) has a goal of raising at least 4,000 dollars for the New Hampshire Special Olympics. The program itself has been involved with the New Hampshire Special Olympics for many years with their annual Penguin Plunge at Hampton Beach. This year the program decided for the first time to sponsor two Special Olympians going to the Summer USA games in Seattle Washington. The Winnacunnet MCJROTC program works to create the future leaders of America by instilling in the students skills which they can use post high school for their own personal success. The mission of the Winnacunnet MCJROTC is to help students develop the qualities of leadership, self discipline, honor, and integrity. Leadership, teamwork, and citizenship training is emphasized throughout every aspect of the program. A big part of this is selfless service through which the Winnacunnet MCJROTC participates in numerous community service events each year. Cadets are in charge of creating and planning events that the program is involved in such as End 68 Hours of Hunger, Exeter Breast Cancer Walk, The Penguin Plunge, and this Walkathon. As well as planning the events the cadets are also expected to supervise and/or participate volunteering their time to help others. By doing these things cadets gain skills such as: public speaking, time management, problem solving, writing, and much more.
